notes about alternative transportation in Phoenix

There are plenty of fish in the desert

The caterpillar roll at Hana on 7th Avenue. The restaurant is a quick bike ride north of the 7th Avenue/Camelback station.  Hana is about 20 minutes from downtown, by train and bike.  This was my first time at Hana - the service was great and the sushi was delicious. If you go, be sure to save room for the deep fried green tea ice cream.

Where's your favorite place for sushi in CenPho?

My station

I'm partnering with the Holiday Inn to sponsor the Osborn light rail station in Phoenix. The station looks good today, don't you think?

The birthday girl

A friend invited me to her daughter's birthday party. I had no idea what to get a three year old, let alone find something on a Saturday afternoon in downtown Phoenix. Thanks to guidance from my friends on Twitter, I discovered plenty of places to shop. I hope little Zoe enjoys this container of Softdough from the Phoenix Art Museum gift store.

waiting

I'm heading to a party and have some time to kill: the battery in my Zipcar barely has a pulse.

While I wait for the tow truck to jump start my car, I'm killing time and picking up a host gift from the new Phoenix Public Market.

Agave wheat beer
Have'a corn chips
Pumpkin seed salsa verde
Reusable burlap sack

Not bad in a pinch.  And all the items were made right here in Arizona.  Everything looks good... at least I'll have something to eat if I'm stranded here much longer.

Downtown Barber Shop

Eddie Zavur (owner of Downtown Barber Shop and the King of Barbers according to his drop card) tells me the lightrail has brought more people from the suburbs to see the heart of Phoenix. Zavur says the streets weren't as busy three years ago - just before construction started on the system.

btw, shave and a haircut was five bits plus tip.
